This is especially common in European cities, because we Europeans do not have huge malls located in the middle of the suburbs.
Futhermore, you have to regard the commercial areas of Cities: Skylines not like Walmarts but like more smaller shops inside a city center, like a department store next to a café next to a small grocery store next to a night club next to a clothes shop. I also would not prefer to live next to a very busy store. Second, I think that commercial zones also produce noise in real life. First, it is often common practise that the owners of a landsite decide what to build on it and not only the mayor. So I only mods thauset enrich the vanilla game by not changing the basic gameplay, like Network Extensions 2st a few more streets) and Metro Overhaul Mod (adding for features to build a metro (ju network), and not mods like Move It! (lets you move stuff around like you were GOD and not the major), Always Demand (thats unrealistic), Unlimited Goods (thats also unrealistic) and Unlimited Money (the most unrealistic mod of all of them, because WHICH DAMN CITY HAS UNLIMITED MONEY!?)Īnd last but not least, I would not consider the gameplay of Cities: Skylines unrealistic. Because I like managing a towns natural growth and the budget, I try to keep the original gameplay style.
Personally, I do not like this gameplay style, although I have to admit that these towns are looking really awesome. And to finance this giant Hollywood Show, the unlimited money mod is the best friend. Basically, it is just a map full of props instead of houses and companies. Thus, it may be possible to build something that lools great but does not work like a real city. And these cities are mostly constructed by adding pre-importet assets and buildings and props from the Steam Workshop (unless you have created them for yourself, but this requires A LOT OF WORK) and moving them around with the Move It! Mod. However, to achieve this, you will need a few dozen mods.
